ONE Esports Pins Down CEO, First Events


MMA promotion ONE Championship is starting to roll out its vision for the company’s foray into esports, announcing a familiar face who will be leading the charge, as well as a partnership for its upcoming events.

Carlos Alimurung, who served as Chief Business Officer for Battlefy, is joining the company to serve as CEO of ONE Esports with the company’s first events set to take place in October in Tokyo and December in Singapore.

“I look forward to returning to Asia, joining the ONE team, and starting the next stage of my career in Singapore,” Alimurung said in a post. “Chatri Sityodtong, thank you for the confidence and privilege to lead the team. Launching an esports business in Asia is a once in a lifetime opportunity. ONE Esports Team, I’m excited to work with you.”

ONE Esports also announced a partnership with PGL, one of the world’s largest esports producers, to assist in its events.

ONE Esports’ first ONE Dota 2 Singapore World Pro Invitational, organized in partnership with PGL, will take place this year on December 20-22 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, followed by our second ONE Dota 2 Jakarta World Pro Invitational on April 17-19 next year at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition. Each invitational will see the best 12 teams from around the world compete for a prize pool of $500,000.

“ONE Esports is Asia’s largest esports championship series, featuring some of the world’s biggest games such as Dota 2, Street Fighter, Tekken, and many others,” said Chatri Sityodtong, Founder, Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship.“Our first events this year will be in October in Tokyo and December in Singapore. In addition, ONE Esports will host the very first ONE Tekken Tokyo Invitational and the ONE Street Fighter Tokyo Challenge in Tokyo on October 5-6.
