Infinite Realty is going Rogue,
announcing that the company has entered into a definitive merger agreement to acquire esports and entertainment conglomerate ReKTGlobal, Inc. in a $470 million all-stock deal. As part of the deal, Infinite Reality will integrate ReKT’s four key business divisions, which include esports franchises, marketing and partnership services, talent management, and technology products.
According to the announcement, the acquisition aims to “consolidate ReKT’s entertainment and esports business into Infinite Reality’s already impressive offering of creative tools covering social, gaming, virtual and remote production, NFT minting, content, and Metaverse creation.” As part of the deal, Infinite Reality will integrate ReKT’s four key business divisions, which include esports franchises Rogue and CDL’s London Royal Ravens, marketing and partnership services, talent management, and technology products.

The Global Esports Federation confirmed plan for the second edition of the Global Esports Games to take place in Istanbul from December 14-18 this year. “Istanbul 2022 Global Esports Games is going to be epic. Electronic Arts announced that the EACC Spring 2022 will continue the 2022 season of EA SPORTS FIFA Online 4 esports events, hosted by EA and Official Tournament Organizer and Lead Agency, ONE Esports. The Spring edition of the EACC will take place online from April 18-24 and will be broadcast across China, Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. The tournament will feature 12 teams competing over a week of intense competition for a total US$100,000 prize pool.
YouTube creator Ludwig locked in a $100,000 partnership with Epic Games for his ‘Fortnite Mondays’ tournaments. The creator posted alongside his partnership announcement, that his first tournament would be open to small creators only with the next one running April 18. Forgotten Land is Kirby’s Most Successful Streaming Release
Nintendo’s Kirby franchise has been around for three decades and has been sucking in players from all over the world. However, when it comes to live streaming, the Kirby platformer games have never been at the top of the charts. Until Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
The newest Kirby installment has already broken records for the most streamed Kirby game of all time. In its first three weeks of release, Kirby and the Forgotten Land has received 6.7 million hours watched. It also had a peak concurrent viewership of 109,000. Almost 19,000 unique channels streamed the game for about 152,000 hours.
About 74% of viewers watched Forgotten Land on Twitch, with about 23% on YouTube Gaming. The top three streamers of the game are VTubers from YouTube.
Compared to other Kirby games, Forgotten Land is the most successful on live streaming by far. It taps into the popularity of 3D platformers like Mario Odyssey, Portal, It Takes Two, and others. The second most-streamed Kirby game is Kirby Super Star, released in 1996. Like other older Kirby games, it’s available in the Nintendo Switch retro game library. Since 2016, it has received just under 1.5 million hours watched on live streaming platforms.

LA-based esports org The Sentinels and G FUEL secured a long-term deal, which includes sponsorship of multiple Sentinels’ platforms – from a YouTube series to upcoming co-branded products. Evil Geniuses is launching a new, full-service studio for content creators headed by John Jung, EG’s VP of operations and studio. He told GamesBeat in an interview, “This is our first foray into building out both a production facility as well as all of the talent that we would need to build and shoot, edit, post-produce, everything from beginning to end. Luxury auto brand Lamborghini launched the Automobili Lamborghini Esports Team, inking three sim drivers to join the squad. Lamborghini will now compete in “Assetto Corsa Competizione,” an Italian-developed car racing simulator, with Jordan Sherratt of South Africa and Italians Gianfranco Giglioli and Giorgio Simonini as the drivers. Their first competition is the GT World Challenge Esports Sprint Series Europe.
Epic Games landed a $2 billion round of financing involving Sony Group Corporation and KIRKBI. The financial injection will be used to support the company’s growth, and help advance its vision to build the metaverse. The investment round included funding from technology conglomorate and previous Epic Games investor Sony Group Corporation, and KIRKBI, the investment company behind the LEGO Group. Sony and KIRKBNI both invested $1bn each.

Legendary Play announced it has secured $4 million in funding for its latest project: A series of mobile games for esports fans. Bitkraft Ventures and MTG led the round, with participation from 1Up Ventures and Level Up. Legendary Play has also partnered with ESL to make virtual versions of the latter’s esports events and keep the games feeling authentic.
QuakeCon will return a digital event this year, Bethesda announced, with an online edition of the event running Aug. 18-20. “Like you, we’re disappointed to not return to Dallas this year,” Bethesda said. “An event of this size requires months of planning, and in this case, we had to make decisions when there was still too much uncertainty to commit to successfully executing an in-person QuakeCon.”
